Underbody Protection

We supply protecting plates made by the best-known SOUTHDOWN company as well as W&H and Bearmach. We reserve the right to deliver products from any of these manufacturers according to availability except if a customer states he wants specific products from one manufacturer. Plates are usually made from 4mm stell with an protective coating (galvanised, plastified or both). These are among the best we've ever seen and very difficult to bend although some customers have tried quite hard… Aluminium also available on some designs.

Soon available: Slim but sturdy protectors for the rear corners (behind the wheels)

Protection Plates are available for:

Axle

The diff housing is the weakest point in the axle. Shame on Rover about this. But our bulletproof plate remedies this. It extends under the axle from side to side, is about 30 cm/12" large and protects axle, diffs and steering linkage. Count on loosing less than an Inch of ground clearance under the diffs. But remember you'll loose also some clearance under the axle tubes although these aren't the lowest points.

Diff housings

For those not wishing to have this large and heavy plate we offer halfmoon shaped heavy protectors for the housing alone. Those are either fixed by spot welds over the housing or by a clamping bolt and offer all the protection you'll normally need. Easy mounting, galvanised 5mm steel. Do not require cutting or drilling.

Also available as full bowl model that are welded on.

Available for 90/110/127/130/Discovery and Range Rover

Price around 3.500.- per front axle, 3.500.- to 5.000.- for rear axle

WARNING: We saw some customers fill the gap between those protectors and the axle haousing with expanding foam. DON'T DO THIS. This type foam attracts and captures water and will make your diff housing rot in no time. Use silicone if you wish as this seals water off.

Also available diff housing skid plates. Smaller versions of the large axle plates they extend only under the diff and protect also the U-joints. Available for Rover and Salisbury axles.

Tank protectors

Especially 110's, 130's and Range Rovers are susceptible to tank damage if driven hard. These plates will help you keep your tank intact. Maybe important when you're out in the middle of nowhere. On Range Rovers they also permit to take off the wonderful genuine rusttrap that's formed between the tank and the genuine skidplate.

Or in Stainless Steel A2 and 4mm thick at around 20.000.- Flux. Special order item, up to 8mm thickness available.

Winch mountings

Designed to protect the winch as well as not to reduce front approach angle and cooling.

Example: Winch mounting plate in massive 8mm Stainless Steel with Stainless Steel mounting hardware for Milemarker hydraulic winch on 90/110 runs around 14.000.- Flux. A bit steep at first look but remember the pulling force such a winch will exerce. Bullbars will no longer fit. Front bumper can be included as a Stainless part, also in 8mm Stainless but looks as standard if you paint it black. Complete price then around 30.000.- Flux or Front Bumper alone 16.000.- in A2.

All protector plates with the exception of diff covers can be made in STAINLESS STEEL and in different thickness on special request. Finish is clean but not smooth or shiny. If you want it polished it's up to you to do this job. For example it's possible to get an steering guard made of 12 mm (more than 7/16") A2 or A4 stainless steel with stainless steel mounting hardware. Also stainless steel front bumper available. Looks as innocent as the genuine bumper but is made of 8mm stainless steel- stronger than the chassis it's mounted to.

Prices vary, please call. Prices for stainless steel plates can only be fixed approximatively ass they are hand made and vary by working hours and tickness of material. Approximatively count 50% over aluminium. A substantial down payment is needed when ordering stainless equipment as they are only made to order by an highly skilled local company.
